The ducks in our garden gathered around a Great Blue Heron who was enjoying breakfast. Noticing the commotion from the breakfast table, I grabbed my camera and went outside hoping to see how he was going to manage to swallow such a large Catfish.
Just got this little platter out of the kiln. Handmade using low fire clay and low fire glaze.
Breathtaking early morning view from the dock. Happy place! Every time I come here, it reminds me of Sweden.
Today, I had some free time and had the great fortune to watch a Great Blue Heron enjoying a snack. I watched him fish until he came up with this little shrimp. Then I watched him fly off… presumably to his nest to feed the babies… Nature is so beautiful and every time I am fortunate enough to witness nature at its best, I feel like I’m at the movies, thoroughly entertained.
Each year St. Augustine hosts a great venue of birding and outdoor photography. The Photo Fest features world-class photographers and instructors who offer technical training workshops and birding in-field programs. A photography friend and I participate every year and this year was no exception. We benefit from insights and instruction from superb international nature and wildlife photographers — a group that contributes greatly to Florida’s Birding & Photo Fest as one of the premier events in North America. We’ve been attending this terrific event for the past four years and feel that we’ve learned so much.
Lately, I’ve been photographing the beautiful reflections on our lagoons on the golf course early in the morning. It’s the perfect time of day when all is quiet and the wildlife is just waking up as the sun is peeking over the horizon.
This Great Horned Owl appeared one morning at dawn from nearby Guana Preserve looking for a morsel. In the low light conditions, it wasn't until I grabbed the camera that I could make out what it was.
Having just returned from a wonderful week with friends hiking and biking in Yosemite National Park, the scenery took my breath away and sent my mind reeling with the sheer beauty and inspiration of the place.
Spent a wonderful three weeks touring the island learning and seeing so much.
